dp Podcast Episode 9: How Catholicism Abused Bible Prophecy

The popular series Left Behind is based on today’s mainstream Protestant view of apocalyptic prophecy known as Futurism. Although it is now widely accepted in Protestant circles as Bible-based prophecy, it is actually based on Roman Catholic eschatology. And not only that, Futurism was one of Catholicism’s most effective decoys to divert attention away from being identified as Anti-Christ.

In this week's podcast Jesse Sias and Abraham Miranda talk about Catholicism’s attempts to distort the Bible’s prophetic record in order to vindicate itself from the outcries of the reformers. Brute force and persecution no longer proved effective against the reform movement. If the Catholic Church was to survive it would have to provide “prophetic proof” that it was not the Anti-Christ power of Scripture. What kind of proof did they provide? dp Podcast Episode 8: Catholic Church Counters Reform Movement and Prophecy

Jesse Sias and Abraham Miranda welcome you back to another episode of Defend Prophecy!

This week Jesse and Abraham talk about how the Catholic Church defended itself from the allegations that it was the anti-christ power of prophecy. By this time the reformers were unanimous in their views, claiming that the Catholic Church was indeed the anti-christ power described in Scripture and the prophetic word. As a result of the Protestant Reformation, Great Britain and Europe were beginning to break away from the influence and authority of the Roman Church causing the Church to lose power and credibility as a formidable religious institution.

Facing humilation and certain extinction the Roman Church launched what is known in history as the counter reformation to combat the efforts of the "heretical" Protestant reformation. Using the powerful and militant Jesuit Order along with the Council of Trent, the Roman Catholic Church relentlessly set out to reassert its claim to be the supreme authority over all the Christian faith. But would the Catholic Church go too far? (Click on title to hear podcast)
